Problem Statement

In The Walking Dead, survivors are constantly out running the disease ridden zombies as to prevent themselves from being infected. However, throughout the course of this show little has been done in order to eliminate this zombie apocalypse; including attempting to find a cure but not actually going through with it. With this problem, the fan base will soon begin to drop as views begin to realize that nothing is being done to solve the zombie disease. The unknown disease within the zombies continues to spread uncontrollably and dangerously. The zombies in The Walking Dead are a problem because they are continuously dropping the human population through the spread of the disease and deaths. Unfortunately, there is an unknown event that has led to the origin of the disease. The only ones involved in this situation are survivors who are trying not to become zombies themselves. This problem in The Walking Dead has, so far, only occurred in Georgia.
This problem has had a variety of effects in The Walking Dead. There has been two specific ways the zombie apocalypse has effected the problem they are: directly and indirectly. As a result of this problem what directly has happened is the continuous spread of the disease also causing deaths of survivors. Survivors have also had to seek shelter and safety from the zombies in order not to become zombies; they have directly lost their regular lives. Indirectly the problem has resulted in low amount of food resources because of the low population in humans. There is also no electricity or any retail places also because survivors are in hiding from the disease. Zombies have taken over and have left absolutely no room for the humans.

Solving this problem will definitely bring positive impacts to The Waling Dead. This problem needs to be solved in order to being humanity back. It needs to be solved in order to bring normality back into survivor’s lives and have them live in fear of this disease any more. It also needs to be solved because the zombies have been around for long enough causing the survivors to live with constant trauma and violence in their lives. This problem needs to come to an end as soon as possible. Currently, the only thing being done is having the characters move from place to place in order to avoid the more dangerous parts of the state of Georgia. However, here and there they do fight for their lives killing zombies. But most of the time they are hiding trying to solve other problems rather than solve the bigger problem. In order to solve this problem a large amount of survivors will need to come together to help find the most practical way of eliminating the zombies. Possible with just killing them all of as well as quarantine all survivors in order to help them start a new life. This will help the humans recreate the world they once knew by keeping the threat of what haunts them, away.

The best way to go about solving this problem is being practical. That is just killing all the zombies off. Survivors can come together to form a group those goes up against these zombies daily.

  1. 1. What is the broader topic that the author proposes is a problem?

There hasn't been a solution to the zombie disease in The Walking Dead.

    2. How does the author define that topic? State that definition here.

Zombies are causing low resources for survivors and many deaths.

    3. Is there a readily identifiable thesis statement which states the problem and reasons in a because claim?

yes there is. "The zombies in The Walking Dead are a problem because they are continuously dropping the human population through the spread of the disease and deaths'

    4. How is the problem contextualized? (e.g. when the problem began, what has already been done regarding the problem, the consequences of the problem, etc.)

There was an attempt to find a cure but failed. Ever since then nothing has been done other than the survivors trying to stay alive.

    5. Is the problem topic specific and located in the smallest possible category? (e.g. cats > feral cats on UF’s campus)

This problem is specific to The Walking Dead show.

    6. Is the problem unique? If the topic is popular (e.g. obesity, gun control, abortion), does the problem statement offer a new interpretation of the common problem?

The problem is unique and does not seem to have been argued before.

  2. 1. What is the broader topic that the author proposes is a problem?
How the zombie apocalypse exists, and while they've been fighting it, it hasn't exactly been stopped.

    2. How does the author define that topic? State that definition here.
The apocalypse won't be stopped and will continue growing if something is not done to stop it.

    3. Is there a readily identifiable thesis statement which states the problem and reasons in a because claim?
Not exactly, just that the apocalypse exists and hasn't been stopped.

    4. How is the problem contextualized? (e.g. when the problem began, what has already been done regarding the problem, the consequences of the problem, etc.)
The consequences is that the zombie apocalypse exists and nothing is being done to stop it. There's no indication of when the problem exists and nothing has been done to stop the problem.

    5. Is the problem topic specific and located in the smallest possible category? (e.g. cats > feral cats on UF’s campus)
Technically yes, because it's concerning the show.

    6. Is the problem unique? If the topic is popular (e.g. obesity, gun control, abortion), does the problem statement offer a new interpretation of the common problem?
Yes, not many people have been writing about the zombie apocalypse in the Walking Dead.
