Blog Post #2

My strongest memory from my childhood while I was in school was probably when I was in the gifted program in elementary school. I remember my gifted teacher for Language Arts would give us these packets on Friday that were due the next Friday. They contained 10 spelling words, and 10 vocabulary words not to mention the daily 30-minute reading log. I always dreaded this, it would take me forever because we had to define the words, then do sentences then do a variety of other things. I remember my mom helping me do these packets because I did have other homework to do.

Although I always dreaded this assignment at one point I realized that even though it was monotonous it was something that had to get done because unfortunately it was my grade on the line in the class. It also taught me a variety of lessons.

These packets taught me discipline. They taught me that at some point after school I needed to sit down to get this done. Although this account sounds insignificant I do believe it has shaped me into who I am today. The discipline I have with my studies is incredible. I know that, like I said before, it is something that must get done whether i like it or not. This discipline will also be useful to me in the long run when I have my career it will help me focus and be prepared for what it coming. For some discipline ins something that comes easy. For that I am thankful for the fact that I went through that experience in elementary that has helped me shape who I am today as a responsible individual.

  2. Wow! That's great that you learned discipline at a young age! That's very important as you grow up in life. I'm glad you learned it at a young age because you've grown up to be a very disciplined young girl! :)
