Blog Post 1: My Inspiration

At some point in my teen life I decided what I wanted as a career. I was inspired by two women in my life that I look up to dearly. This is my mother and my moms cousin.

My mother has always been a big advocate on education. Mind you, she's a teacher. She's been going to college since before she was pregnant with me and continued even after I was born. She graduated with her Bachelor's in Education and Master's in Science while maintaining a job, a family, and a household. This is something I look up to, her perseverance and determination to finish what she once started. She had always wanted to be a teacher and now she is doing what she loves. Her struggle inspired me to always strive for more and do what you love which is why I chose Psychology.

My mom's cousin also inspired me to become a Psychologist because she is doing the job that I love. She helps children and teens with their problems at home or at school. This inspires me because I want to make a difference in the world. I want to help prevent children from making bad decisions in their lives that will effect them for the rest of their lives. I want to make children aware of all the danger of the world on the outside. I want to be able to help them find who they are and help them find what they want out of life.

The study of the mind is so extraordinary and complex to analyze. It's where everything comes from, all your emotions, thoughts, and ideas... I hope to one day achieve my dreams and really make a difference and help those children into become positive productive citizens.

  1. You seem quite passionate about your field of study. Don't ever forget that. It is rather easy, in the midst of college life and outside factors, to become disillusioned with your passions. Your humanitarian spirit is very present, both in-class and in your writing.

  2. My mom is a big advocate on education too! I also want to have a career that helps people and ultimately better the world we live in. Great post!

  3. That's so great that you've been able to look up these two women in your life in order to decide on the type of career you want. It's important that you get a feel for what the job takes before you dive headfirst into a career. Since you've had a preview of what the job is like, I think that it's easier for you to know exactly what you want to do and you won't be questioning yourself too much as you continue through college. Good luck!!! -Maria Lozada
